I revisit "Gift from the sea" at last once a year. It is a gift to the reader with its outlook on all aspects os a relationship and keeping one's self while giving to and doing for others. There a few in you list a haven't read and look forward to them. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
You included Sipsworth in this collection. It is a delightful story! Simon Van Booy met with my book club via Zoom. He is also delightful! I frequently look for UpLit; thanks for your list!
Simon Van Booy is charming and generous with his time. When he met with my book club on Zoom, he told us the story of the real Sipsworth. He even sent me a picture of Sipsworth!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm actually just as far along and have been under the weather struggling with reading as well, so this post really resonated with me. I love moments when you find yourself sharing a wavelength or life season with someone you never met and they have just the right recommendations for where you are. Thank you for this gentle reading list!
Oh wow, congratulations to you too! Thank you so much for the comment – it's so nice to have moments like this in what can otherwise be a lonely time. I hope the coming weeks treat you well! ❤️
Gift from the Sea is high on my list of go to’s to pick up and read a chapter when I need calm. I have had Kate And Frida on hold at the library and I think I need to put some other here on hold too
Oh thank you so much for this list and congrats on your growing baby 🥹 I wish i had this list when i was pregnant! The pregnancy anxiety is so hard. Best wishes 🤍
What a sweet list! Have enjoyed so many of these and have Sipsworth on this month’s pile of possibilities. It’s been on my shelf for months. This makes me look even more forward to it!
I think this might be a sign...my husband and kids gave me a Christmas gift of a plane ticket to a quiet seaside place...ALL BY MYSELF, and I have been contemplating not going, when suddenly I chance upon this and read what you wrote about Gift of the Sea. Thank you for this--and for the whole list.
I’m reading Kate &Frida right now and loving it! I have several comfort books I go back to when times are tough. My favorite is the Guernsey Literary and potato Peel Pie Society. ❤️
I am so glad I found this post as I was just thinking about gentle reads this morning! I would also suggest Wintering by Katherine May, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elizabeth Tova Bailey, and The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan. All felt like a meditation when listening to the audio for me.

That's such a lovely perspective on the book, Sharon. Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Moomins! Sipsworth!

I, too, loved Sipsworth! Lucky you getting to meet the author!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Dorothy! (Also, everyone seems to have met Simon Van Booy!)

Excellent choices!
Aww, I never see people recommending Alexander McCall-Smith but I’m a huge fan of the Isabel Dalhousie and 44 Scotland Street series’ x
Lovely to hear from a fellow fan, they're always so comforting!

Gift from the Sea is so perfect for that, it's like a doorway to the seaside. Hope you enjoy Kate & Frida!

Thank you so much, Brooke! Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Thank you for sharing these. Apart from Emma, I've not read any, but they sound lovely. We need more cosy books in the world, I think 💕
Aww thanks Katie, I think so too! Hope you enjoy the books ❤️

Love 'Gift from the Sea', adding the others to my TBR. Thanks for a great list full of good recommendations.
